Somatic Pilates & Somatic Movement / Somatic Movement Therapy Group Classes in Shrewsbury, Shropshire & Online via Zoom, Immersive Sessions & Retreats.

In softness there is power. Stop forcing and start trusting your body and yourself.

Whether In-Studio in Shropshire or Live on Zoom, Find Your Tonic for Modern Living.

Choose the setting that suits your lifestyle. Both my Shrewsbury semi-private classes and my online Zoom sessions prioritise Polyvagal safety, the felt sense, gentle embodied movement, and the "human being" over the "human doing."

Most Pilates classes focus on how the body looks from the outside. My Somatic Pilates approach focuses on how your body feels and functions from the inside. By merging the precision of Pilates with Polyvagal Theory and Franklin Method® imagery, I don't just help you get stronger. I help you regulate your nervous system and reclaim your body’s natural design. It’s not just an exercise; it’s an evolution in how you inhabit yourself.

In a world of crowded, high-intensity fitness classes where you are often just another body in the room, my Somatic Pilates semi-private sessions offer a necessary return to precision, presence, and personal evolution. By limiting my numbers, I move away from the "external performance" of exercise and into a deeply personalised experience where your unique biomechanics and nervous system are the primary focus. This intimate setting allows me to provide the high-level anatomical guidance and trauma-informed support that a larger group simply cannot accommodate, ensuring every movement is an opportunity to regulate your system rather than strain it. Choosing this smaller, intentional environment means you aren't just "doing" Pilates; you are receiving a bespoke education in your own body’s design, fostering a level of physical intelligence and lasting relief that only comes from true, focused quality.

As a Master Somatic Movement Educator and Therapist, Level 4 Franklin Method® Educator and specialist in Comprehensive Somatic Pilates, I help you bridge the gap between biomechanical precision and nervous system regulation. By integrating Polyvagal Theory with trauma-informed movement, my semi-private sessions offer a rare, quality-focused environment where we move beyond 'fitness' to reclaim your body’s natural design. Whether you are navigating chronic pain or seeking elite performance, my mission is to provide the anatomical literacy and somatic safety you need to transform your movement into a tonic for modern living.

Virtual Somatic Pilates: Live Online Pilates Classes via Zoom

Virtual Somatic Pilates: An Evolutionary Online Experience

Somatic Pilates is a sophisticated blend of classical Pilates and Somatic Movement principles, designed to bridge the gap between physical strength and nervous system regulation. Unlike standard fitness-based Pilates, these live Zoom sessions are taught at a slower, more intentional pace to foster deep mind-body integration and anatomical precision.

Why Choose Virtual Somatic Pilates?

  • Nervous System Regulation: Utilize embodied breathing and polyvagal-informed movement to dissolve chronic stress and mental fatigue.

  • Precision Without Force: Discover greater range of motion and efficient movement patterns without the strain of traditional stretching.

  • Deep Functional Awareness: Learn to identify where you hold tension and how to engage muscles with less effort and more ease.

  • Transitional Benefits: Develop a grounded presence and mental clarity that carries over from your mat into your daily life.

  • Perfect for those looking for specialist somatic coaching without the commute, these live Zoom classes offer the same "eyes-on" feedback as my in-person Shropshire work.

Please note: This specialist class is designed for general wellness and is not suitable for those with current injuries or those under active medical or therapeutic care.

They will be held on Tuesday lunchtimes, paid monthly.

I have enjoyed not only each session, but also finding out what deeper grounding feels like, and learning how to *really* listen to my body, and ways to release tension and stress.

Your Questions, Answered

  • In an intimate, semi-private setting, the focus shifts from simply "keeping up" to "deepening in." Here is why the quality of a smaller group transforms your results:

    • Bespoke Biomechanical Feedback: In a large class, subtle misalignments go unnoticed. In a semi-private setting, I can provide the precise, Franklin Method®-informed cues your specific structure needs to move with efficiency rather than effort.

    • Nervous System Safety: True somatic healing requires a sense of safety. A smaller group reduces the "sensory noise" of a crowded gym, allowing your nervous system to stay in a regulated, Ventral Vagal state where real change and tissue release actually happen.

    • A Curriculum for Your Body: Large classes are designed for the "average" person. Semi-private sessions allow me to adapt the somatic inquiry to your specific history—whether you are managing bone health (Buff Bones®), recovering from injury, or refining elite athletic performance.

    • Deepened Anatomical Literacy: You aren't just following a demonstration from afar. The smaller setting facilitates a dialogue, allowing you to ask questions and truly understand the internal "map" of your movement, which builds lasting physical intelligence you carry into your daily life.

    • Accountability Without Pressure: You benefit from the shared energy of a small community of like-minded movers, but with the individualized attention of a private session, ensuring you are seen, supported, and challenged at exactly the right level.

  • While traditional Pilates often focuses on external form and "core strength" through repetition, Somatic Pilates prioritizes your internal experience and nervous system regulation. By integrating Polyvagal Theory and the Franklin Method®, my classes help you understand your body’s anatomical design. Instead of just "doing" an exercise, you learn to move from a state of safety and embodiment, making the workout more effective for long-term mobility and pain relief.

  • Integrating Polyvagal Theory means we focus on the state of your nervous system while you move. Many people exercise in a "fight or flight" state, which causes muscle bracing. In my classes, we use somatic tools to move into a Ventral Vagal state (the state of safety and connection). This allows your muscles to release chronic tension and your body to build How does Polyvagal Theory work within a movement class? strength without triggering a stress response.Integrating Polyvagal Theory means we focus on the state of your nervous system while you move. • The Franklin Method® uses Dynamic Neuro-cognitive Imagery (DNI)™ to teach you how your organs, joints, and bones actually function. By visualizing the "architecture" of your movement, you improve your brain-to-body communication. This leads to immediate improvements in flexibility, strength, and coordination, transforming Pilates from a workout into a tool for physical intelligence.

  • Drop in classes rarely work for you or the class you are dropping into. Come and commit to experiencing movement differently for a set number of weeks - a single hour class is not really going to resolve all of your issues and by investing in a block you have decided you want to commit to moving in a healthy and holistic way.

  • My approach to movement is led by very deep and extensive (and continuing training) training and regulation by my governing bodies. My practice is built on over a decade of experience working deeply and somatically with my own body as well as those of my clients. If you want expert led, holisitic and integrated health through movement I am here for you.

  • Please contact me initially. It may be I can let you into class or I need to work with you 1:1 for a while to ensure you know how to move safely within a group setting. Some classes are not suitable for every kind of condition so please ask.

  • If you have an injury or medical condition you need to check with your medical professional that these classes are suitable for you. You declare that your medical professionals are happy for you to take part. Franklin Method® and Somatic Movement works from the principle of health. They do not replace medical care. If you have a physical or mental condition these classes do not replace treatment and you are advised to work with a physiotherapist and / or mental health professional. By joining these classes it is presumed that you have clearance and are able to get up and down from the floor unaided. As a trauma informed practitioner I work with care, but in some cases of trauma these classes may not be suitable. You need to check beforehand with your own medical professionals. Group classes are never the place to work through trauma, these classes are for somatic movement exploration and are not somatic therapy.

  • It’s honest work, as you work with you in every session. The focus is on feeling your body and working to levels of comfort. It is not about aesthetics, feeling the burn or getting abdominals but something much more profound. Curious? Then come and join me!
