What my clients say about working with me…

“After I injured my back, I was often in discomfort, and my body felt weaker and quite limited in its mobility. There was a time where I was unable to sit down for more than 30 minutes at a time without feeling uncomfortable. Working with Sarah has been life-changing as it has not only allowed me to properly and safely consolidate the advice provided by my physiotherapist in order to improve the condition of my back but, with attention to detail and a carefully curated Pilates programme—designed to suit me and my lifestyle—Sarah has helped me to build strength in all areas of my body, particularly my back, glutes and legs. As a person who was previously glued to my laptop, living a fairly sedentary life, Pilates with Sarah opened up the door to movement which has allowed me to become more active and improve my overall health.

Working 1:1 with Sarah has provided a level of care and attention that I have not found in previous group settings. All bodies are different and due to life events or even the monthly cycle for those who menstruate, operate at different levels every day. Every session, Sarah will first assess how I am feeling, ask about any issues that have cropped up with my health, physical or mental, and will then design our lesson based on first addressing any new issues causing discomfort, if needed, whilst also ensuring that we continue to work towards my long term goals that we have agreed upon together.

It’s difficult to choose the ‘best thing’ that I get from Pilates practice as there are so many positive outcomes. Above everything else, Pilates makes me feel strong and in control of my body. It has provided me with a new sense of confidence in my abilities as I have watched my body perform in a way I once thought was not possible.

“Working with Sarah has been my first experience of Pilates, it has allowed me to understand that mindfulness is not just based on physical movements, but also on the mind-body connection. Sarah’s approach is incredibly holistic, she helps me tune into my body’s signals and identifies where subtle tension affects larger movements in my body (turns out I have a lot of tightness in my feet which affects leg work!) Her focus on mindfulness and breathwork has made me more aware of my body and its alignment, and her calmness is contagious! I always leave sessions feeling aligned and with a new sense of calm.

The 1:1 sessions with Sarah have been really helpful for me personally, I find it more difficult to engage in group settings and often feel I absorb the energy around me. Sarahs teaching is very tailored to how my body works and working 1:1 has allowed for me to try new things that I wouldn’t necessarily be able to in group settings. I’ve been able to progress at my own pace, improve my form, and feel more confident in my own body knowing that my form is as good as it can be.

The best thing I get from my Pilates practice is the balance it provides between physical strength and mental calm. My body feels more centered, aligned, and strong, which in turn makes everyday activities feel easier and the improvement in posture makes me feel more confident. It has made me more conscious of my movement and how I carry myself in my daily activities; and how these can impact my alignment. Pilates has helped me manage my stress, improve my posture, and increase my energy levels, all while enhancing the awareness I have of my own body. The sessions I have with Sarah are my weekly reset, for both mind and body, the week feels incomplete without a session!”

“I worked for many years as a psychotherapist and would have benefited much earlier in my career from understanding my body from the perspective Sarah has given me in my one to one sessions. With her guidance and help she has really enabled me to identify/ explore particular issues through paying attention to my body and movement. The sessions with Sarah have been invaluable and made a huge difference to my emotional and physical well being. Most of all her classes are really enjoyable. She has sorted out my ongoing back and shoulder problems and given me the skills to develop my own practice at home.”

“I have been working with Sarah since being diagnosed with osteoporosis. Sarah has been able to ease my associated fear of movement, especially falling. Over time Sarah has been extremely helpful in increasing my overall strength and fitness in several areas where the impact of osteoporosis may be most severe in the future.  This includes identifying the causes of my back pain and teaching me suitable exercise programmes based on Buff Bones to reduce it. Sarah is an excellent and kind teacher and her attention to detail continues to be of great benefit in my day to day life and gives me both motivation and hope for the future”.

“Sarah’s Wednesday evening session is the perfect midweek pick-me-up. I love how she invites me to be curious about my own body: about how it feels in the moment and how it might be possible to increase physical ease and peace of mind.

Her enthusiasm and passion for sharing her knowledge of anatomy, coupled with her deep experiential understanding of the subtle rhythms of the body result in engaging classes; while her creativity in explaining these ideas and capacity to bring them into an embodied experience make the learning experientially-informed.

I’m so impressed by her own capacity for embodiment and her passion for sharing this with others, in which gentle attention and curiosity results in movement that’s joyful and pleasurable. By the end of her sessions I feel relaxed and delighted by the potential of my body as a place of rejuvenation and power.

Additionally, as a woman who practices Pilates and goes running several times a week Sarah’s classes give me the time to check in with the biomechanics and the natural rhythms which help me improve my performance in more physically exerting activities.

Sarah’s evening Franklin sessions are an invaluable part of my week, and I’m so grateful that she’s able to offer these online. Thank you, Sarah!”

I attended Sarah lungs workshop. it had a very marked and profound on my thinking about my body and my approach to my health.  I often think in negative ways about my heart and breathing.  Sarah’s language and movement really helped me feel better and I continue to use the movements.  I also really love the Franklin balls. Thank you Sarah for your ability to notice and help.

“Saturday I had the pleasure of attending a very inspiring Franklin Method® class... In the introduction to the class Sarah wrote “What does it feel like to move from your central or peripheral nervous system?” My answer is “Under Sarah’s guidance it feels amazing and utterly mind blowing”...You are a wonderful teacher... I can still visualise the brain and spinal cord dance - absolutely magical.”

“I cannot recommend Sarah enough.

Having contacted her for a beginner’s Pilates session she quickly identified a knee issue that had been causing me problems for years. She worked through several movements with me over a number of sessions to try to correct that fault and I am pleased to say that I now have more movement in my leg than I have had for ages.

I have been looked at by several physios over the years (at substantial personal cost and temporary success) - but she has absolutely nailed it and I couldn’t be happier.”

— K.H, TV and Film Editor, Virtual Pilates 1:1.

“The Franklin Method Breathe and Relax class was amazing. At the end of a busy, mind stretching day I anticipated struggling to switch off and relax. Following Sarah’s gentle prompts I was delighted. The breath work is immersive and my mind chatter stopped! The session left me relaxed but feeling healthy and energised... I highly recommend Sarah to anyone..”

But best of all Sarah makes you feel more relaxed, calm, and with a clearer understanding of how the body should move and feel , when used in a healthier and more natural fashion.”

“I had an absolutely fantastic experience with Sarah. Due to the current Coronavirus outbreak we had a Live online class together. I’ve never done Pilates before but I was in really good hands! All the movements were explained really well and adjustments made as we went through it. It was gentle yet I could really feel the benefit of the stretching. I felt invigorated yet super calm and peaceful by the end of it! Really set me up for the day and gave me something to do for myself during self isolation. Bliss! Highly recommend!”.

— L.C. Essex, Producer and Mum! Virtual Pilates Classes.

“For me, doing Pilates when preparing for a marathon was an incredible help, and continues to be an integral part of my running. Pilates improved my core strength and maintained my overall condition, as it used muscles all over my body, not just the key ones putting in the miles on the road. One vital area it developed was with stretching and flexibility. I always try my best post-run, but doing Pilates with a great teacher ensured that I stretched properly, keeping me more flexible and less achy in my muscles. Pilates really is a phenomenal supplement to any cardio centric activity.”.

— J.W. London, Pilates 1:1 Classes.

“My body feels more integrated, less tense, freer and alive. I’m learning about how much tension and gripping I used to do in other exercise classes and movement doesn’t have to be like that as it can just feel so easy”.
