Welcome to the Somatic Movement Studio for Women’s & Dancer Health
Welcome to my Somatic Movement Studio in Birmingham & Online
I’m Sarah Pritchard - a Master Somatic Movement Therapist, Educator, and Comprehensive Remedial Pilates Teacher specialising in Women’s and Dancers' Health.
A specialist space for embodied, intelligent movement. Here you’ll learn how your body actually works, and transform how you move in daily life.
This is intelligent movement and a form of true somatic practice, not fitness.
What Happens in This Studio
My studio is a designated mind-body somatic space. My studio and the work that takes place here is not a gym, not a fitness facility. Every session, regardless of modality, is built on the principles of internal felt sense, nervous system regulation, and intelligent embodiment.
You’ll experience four core modalities:
Somatic Pilates : Comprehensive and remedial Pilates taught with Franklin Method® imagery and somatic awareness and some of the wellbeing toolbox from SomaSoul®. You learn to feel how your body works, not just copy movement.
Franklin Method® : Dynamic neurocognitive imagery for embodied anatomy. You move and build from internal understanding, not external aesthetics. Sessions build functional movement, alignment, and nervous system calm.
Buff Bones®: Evidence-based movement for bone and joint health. Approved by the Surgeon General (US) for osteoporosis safety. A somatic system combining Pilates, strength, functional movement, and therapeutic exercise harnessing the principles of biotensegrity.
SomaSoul® Somatic Therapy: Deep work with the emotional and nervous system body. When movement, emotion, and sensation integrate, profound healing happens.
Each modality stands alone. Together, they form an integrated approach to lifelong movement intelligence and embodied wholeness.
Who I Am
I’m an internationally regulated somatic movement specialist with dual Master registration (ISMETA MSMT/MSME), an Expert Level 4 Franklin Method® Educator, a SomaSoul® Somatic Therapist, and a 3rd Generation Alan Herdman Comprehensive Pilates teacher.
I’m also Buff Bones® International & UK Faculty, a Dance UK Healthcare Practitioner, and tutor at Fabric Centre for Advanced Training, Fabric Dance and previously Yuva Gati National Centre for Advanced training

What to Expect in Sessions
Somatic movement is fundamentally different from traditional fitness or exercise classes.
It’s not about:
• Pushing, punishing, or “feeling the burn”
• Prioritising movement through the lens of external aesthetics or how your body looks
• Copying movement or following commands
• Extreme exertion or forcing
It’s about:
• Listening to your body from the inside
• Developing a felt sense of how you move
• Understanding your nervous system and how it regulates stress
• Building functional strength that lasts
• Moving with ease and confidence in daily life
In every session, I guide you toward embodied understanding. Rather than just learning movement from the thinking brain or academically; you experience it. Your nervous system calms. Your mind settles. Your body remembers what it’s capable of.
There is no right or wrong in somatic movement. Only your felt experience.
How to Work with Me
You can choose one or combine approaches tailored specifically to what your body needs. Choose in-person sessions at the Cool Pilates Studio in Birmingham’s Jewellery Quarter, or join virtually from home for movement-based work and SomaSoul® Somatic Therapy.
1:1 Private Sessions
Bespoke coaching tailored to your body, goals, and life stage. I assess your movement, create a personalised plan, and work in dialogue with you each session. Progress happens quickly because every minute is designed for you.
Long-term private clients commit to consistent attendance and homework. Usually, you’ll have worked with me in group class or remedial situation first.
Private coaching is by application.
Group Classes & Immersives
Learn at your own pace in community. Whether you’re a complete beginner or an advanced mover, group classes teach you to manage your own body and build self-awareness. Immersives and workshops go deeper into specific themes (pelvic floor, bone health, nervous system, performance).

Working with the Whole Person: The Emotional & Somatic Body
Movement and emotion are inseparable. Your body holds your story, your stress, your history - and sometimes, physical symptoms emerge without a clear physical cause.
This is where SomaSoul® Somatic Therapy becomes essential.
While Pilates and Franklin Method® work brilliantly with biomechanics and movement intelligence, and alone they can resolve amny issues. However, sometimes when working in an emotional body landscape we need a different tool. SomaSoul® it honours the dialogue between your physical sensations, your nervous system, and your emotional landscape.
You might work with me as a SomaSoul® Somatic Movement Therapist if:
• You have chronic pain or physical symptoms with no clear medical diagnosis
• You’re experiencing stress, anxiety, or overwhelm held in your body
• You’ve had trauma or life events that live in your nervous system
• You want to understand the why behind your movement patterns
• You’re ready to integrate the emotional dimension of embodiment, not just the physical
SomaSoul® integrates:
• Somatic dialogue and deep listening
• Expressive movement
• Nervous system regulation (polyvagal awareness)
• Body-based psychotherapy principles
• The wisdom held in your physical form
Mind-Body Integration
True transformation happens when you work with the whole person - not just the muscles, joints, and movement patterns, but the nervous system, emotions, and story your body carries.
In my studio, you might:
• Start with Somatic Pilates to rebuild strength and functional movement
• Add Franklin Method® to deepen embodied awareness
• Work with SomaSoul® to address the emotional or nervous system dimension
• Combine approaches based on what your body needs and combine the times and location moving between in person at the Cool Pilates Studio in Birmingham Jewellery Quarter or Virtual for movement based work and Virtual SomaSoul Somatic Therapy from the comfort of your own home.
Each modality is complete on its own. Together, they create profound, lasting change.

The Studio Ethos
This is a space of gentleness and power.
You are not here to fight your body. You’re here to listen to it, trust it, and discover what it’s already capable of. Over time, through embodied practice, you’ll develop an inner knowing - you’ll read your body with accuracy and confidence.
That confidence transfers everywhere: to how you stand, how you move through your day, how you handle stress, how you show up in the world.
Movement is a joy. It’s empowering. And inside each of us - regardless of where we start - there is potential waiting to be found.
If you’re ready to commit to your own health and wellbeing, to invest time in yourself, and to approach movement with openness and curiosity, I’m here to guide you.
Sarah xx
