What happens in a Franklin Method® workshop?

Each workshop begins with a mind-body warmup and an introduction to the principles of Dynamic Neurocognitive Imagery (DNI)™ - the scientific foundation of the Franklin Method®.

From there, we take a deep dive into the topic of the day. You learn precise anatomical and physiological understanding of a specific area of the body, then immediately experience that understanding through movement and imagery. The gap between knowing and feeling closes quickly.

Sessions range from active and movement-rich to deeply still and inwardly focused, depending on the topic. Both produce lasting change. Both are scientifically grounded.

You leave with a set of tools that are yours to keep - applicable to any movement practice, teaching context, or daily life.

Who are these workshops for?

Movement professionals & teachers

Pilates teachers, yoga teachers, physiotherapists, dance educators, and somatic practitioners use these workshops to deepen anatomical knowledge, develop more precise cueing, and experience the method from the inside before teaching it themselves.

Dancers & performing artists

Franklin Method® was developed in part through work with elite dancers. It changes how the body performs by changing what the brain directs. Technique improves not by adding effort, but by removing interference. As the Pilates and wellbeing tutor for Fabric Centre for Advanced training for Contemporary Dance (West Midlands) I see how Franklin Method® directly has such a positive impact upon the young dancers there. I have worked with students from the Royal Ballet School, Elmhurst Ballet School, and Nicholson School of Dance in Birmingham, Yuva Gati National Centre for Advanced training for South Asian Dance as well as professional contemporary companies: Dancing Strong Movement Lab and private coaches and programmes including So What Now Artist.

Anyone who wants to understand their body

You do not need a movement background. The method meets you where you are. The majority of people who attend my workshops are not movement professionals - they are people who have been carrying tension, pain, or restriction for years and want something that actually works.

How my clients feel

“I had the pleasure of attending a very inspiring Franklin Method® specialist class... In the introduction to the class Sarah wrote “What does it feel like to move from your central or peripheral nervous system?” My answer is “Under Sarah’s guidance it feels amazing and utterly mind blowing”...You are a wonderful teacher... I can still visualise the brain and spinal cord dance - absolutely magical..”

“I attended your pelvic floor workshop about a month ago, and I wanted to thank you again. It was truly eye-opening for me, and I deeply value everything I learned. I can honestly say that the embodied approach you teach feels like something my body needs and deserves—especially after years of pushing my body and dealing with pudendal nerve inflammation a little over two years ago”.
