What is Franklin Method®?
The Franklin Method® has a system of Dynamic Neurocognitive Imagery (DNI)™ a scientifically grounded approach to movement education created by Eric Franklin. It is used by Olympic athletes, elite dance companies, and movement professionals worldwide.
It is the keystone of all of my movement work for over a decade & is transformative at every level.
It works by building precise anatomical, physiological or biomechanical imagery into movement and breath, from simple structural awareness to complex systems including the organs, lymphatic system, nervous system, and enteric nervous system. When imagery and movement combine, the brain forms new connections rapidly. The change is not temporary. It is a genuine shift in how the body organises itself.
As a 1st Generation Level 4 Educator, I have access to rare advanced classes unique to this certification level, including work on the Vagus Nerve, Embodied Vision, Embodied Sound, and the Enteric Nervous System - the last of which I created and presented globally within Eric Franklin's own Virtual Studio.

How does it work?
You learn by doing. Not by watching, not by correcting, not by holding positions but by moving with imagery that your nervous system can actually use.
Most of us move from outdated body maps habitual patterns formed over years that produce tension, restriction, and effort where there should be ease. Franklin Method® replaces those patterns by giving the brain something more accurate to work with.
We can harness the power of the different systems of the body, the bones and muscles and even lesser known systems to the movement world, such as the organs, lymphatic or even the nervous system to bring about positive change for movement, how our body feels, as well as helping us to create a clear mind.
By building imagery of any element of our bodies from simple levels to complex into our minds, applying movement and then mentally recording the learning inside our bodies we rapidly create new links and learning within our brains that allow for positive transformation. Franklin Method® is scientific in its approach and harnesses the neuroplasticity of the brain.
The results are measurable improved gait, increased jump height, better balance. They also show up in ways that cannot be measured: in how you breathe, how you hold yourself, how much effort daily movement costs you.
What it changes
For movement professionals & teachers
Anatomical understanding becomes felt rather than academic. Cueing transforms because you know from the inside what you are asking clients to do. Your own movement practice deepens in ways that years of training may not have reached.
For dancers
Technical precision improves because the body stops working against itself. Imagery replaces effort in rehearsal and performance. Injury recovery is supported. The quality of movement changes by removing what was in the way and coming into a sense of integration with your body.
For anyone who moves
Tension that has been present for years begins to release without forcing. Posture shifts without holding. Strength is available without gripping. The nervous system settles. And you leave with a practical understanding of your own body that stays with you.
A method with science behind it
The Franklin Method® has proven scientific outcomes - it can improve gait and walking, jumping height and technical issues for dancers such as height of developpé, plié, fascial imagery to improve function and relieve pain, especially in issues of the lower back and shoulder, it is proven to improve mindfulness in healthy adults.
Franklin Method® really improves how you move, think and feel and time and time again I have seen how confidence improves with all of my clients using this incredible system.

What my clients say
“I attended your pelvic floor workshop about a month ago, and I wanted to thank you again. It was truly eye-opening for me, and I deeply value everything I learned. I can honestly say that the embodied approach you teach feels like something my body needs and deserves—especially after years of pushing my body and dealing with pudendal nerve inflammation a little over two years ago”.
Martina Berger, Holistic Women’s Wellness Practitioner, Franklin Method® Immersive, Edinburgh

Breath is apparently such a simple act and yet such a beautiful act of self care and healing which can easily be incorporated into daily life and practice. ”

“The (Franklin Method®) class was amazing. At the end of a busy, mind stretching day I anticipated struggling to switch off and relax. Following Sarah’s gentle prompts I was delighted. Realise your potential - why I teach the Franklin Method®.
My personal journey with the Franklin Method® took place over a long period of time and during those years I learnt so much about movement beyond that was beyond all of my training as a dancer and Pilates specialist. It changed the way I move, think and feel for the better. I teach what I have experienced as transformative and I hope you will discover this too!
As a remedial specialist in Pilates and the Pilates Studio environment I have worked using Franklin Method® for many, many years and have seen how I can improve peoples quality of movement, and how critical this is when they are faced with the challenges or injury or surgery. And in improving their connection with their mind and body they can also get on with their lives in a positive way. Just using academic knowledge or a set of exercises is not enough - we have to get the mind involved and interested in what we do and Franklin Method® does this in a systematic and scientifically proven way.
As a Franklin Method® Educator, working with dancers and movement specialists it is a joy to help other movement professionals feel more comfortable in their own bodies, and learn how they were designed to move. But more than that, it is also about working in a collaborative way, where there is freedom to just be yourself and try things out, without any pressure to perform at any level.
My regular programming for Franklin Method® is the result of my personal and teaching experience with it over many years and how I have found it to be helpful to all of my clients and to myself. Every Franklin Method® Educator has their own unique approach and part of my approach is to keep my workshops and classes small and intimate because at the centre of the process is you.
