What is the Franklin Method®?
Its a system for everyone who has a mind and a body!
Cutting edge within the movement world - even though you may not have heard about it before, it is highly respected and its knowledge sought after by movement professionals. It is used by olympic athletes and elite dance companies to maximise performance outcomes across the world.
Created by my teacher, Eric Franklin, it explores the link between the body and the mind using scientific knowledge, biomechanics, imagery and touch.
You no longer have to be a movement professional or travel great distances to access it, as it is available to you in my studio!
How does it work?
When you participate in the Franklin Method® you learn by doing. You move towards a felt, experienced or embodied understanding which is very different to understanding things academically.
By building imagery of any element of our bodies from simple levels to complex into our minds, applying movement and then mentally recording the learning inside our bodies we rapidly create new links and learning within our brains that allow for positive transformation. Franklin Method® is scientific in its approach and harnesses the neuroplasticity of the brain.
We can harness the power of the different systems of the body, the bones and muscles and even lesser known systems to the movement world, such as the organs, lymphatic or even the nervous system to bring about positive change for movement, how our body feels, as well as helping us to create a clear mind.
My studio is a designated mind body studio which means that you really are engaging in somatic, mindful movement. It can look like many things! It can be calm, gentle and soothing, sometimes moving towards a meditative state. It can also be fast, dynamic and powerful. It is creative in its approach and puts you right at the centre of everything that you learn.
The way you experience movement is different, the way it is taught is different and the way you feel will be different too, in your body and your mind. Read on to see the benefits it can bring you.
What are the benefits of the Franklin Method® for you?
Become at one with your own body. Rather than trying to force your body, or carry out movement by ‘holding’ or gripping, doing endless repetitions and experiencing discomfort and feeling worn out you’ll discover very quickly that this is not needed.
