Optimal and Healthy Dance Matters

Sarah Pritchard at Fabric Dance teaching her Pilates class for the West Midlands Contemporary Centre for Advanced Training

I am One Dance UK healthcare practitioner for Pilates, Somatic Movement as well as Franklin Method® and am also a member of the Dance Leaders Group. in Birmingham. I align with their values for healthy dance and for making movement spaces safe spaces and as inclusive as I can be within my own scope of practice.

I work in my own private practice with dancers both virtually and in person and am the Pilates and Wellbeing Tutor for Fabric Centre for Advanced training as well as Yuva Gati National Centre for Advanced Training.

I have also worked with small contemporary dance companies as well as pre vocational and vocational students and professional dancers at every stage in their career.

I’ve been on my own journey through dance as a dancer and dance teacher, as well as training with my own teachers who themselves have been dancers and continue to work with dancers in their own practice.

In addition I am DBS cleared, have up to date safeguarding training and have completed BAID (Black Artisits in Dance) training. Within my own training I am also a trauma informed practitioner and a somatic therapist currently in training so I have a very deep awareness of body, mind and spirit within movement work.

Pilates for Dancers in Person Birmingham

New Reformer / Tower class for Contemporary Dancers in Birmingham City Centre at Cool Pilates in the Jewellery Quarter!

Working within a Pilates Studio environment gives you a profoundly intelligent movement system coupled with the incredible and transformative equipment of the studio.

The tower and reformer provide you with challenge and ways to build strength but it also gives you incredible and immediate feedback and helps you really work into your body with support or challenge and a level of specificity to refine your alignment in movement - strengthening, and protecting and rebalancing your body.

The deep core work we do in Pilates supports your fluid movement, improves balance and helps you have a more efficient use of energy.

Joint stability AND mobility.  The resistance and spring settings allow you to work through ranges of motion safely, inhaling your mobility but protecting your joints.

Develop strength and length - develop long and lean muscles that have functional strength.

Refined body awareness - the equipment helps you to deepen your somatic connection , and feel correct with your movement habits and pattern.

And Recovery and Longevity - Pilates is restorative for mind and body, rebalancing in every way - aiding recovery from rehearsal, performance and keeps you dancing for life!
