At Newton Meadows, our work isn't confined to the studio floor. We use the senses in nature as a masterclass in Self-Regulation. Our nervous systems require safety and nourishment to move out of the contraction of stress and into the expansion of wellbeing. In our SomaSoul® and Franklin Method® retreats, we use the surrounding Shropshire landscape to support our Ventral Vagal state. By observing nature, we engage in a proven way to lower cortisol and invite a sense of peace back into the body.

Who is this retreat for?

This retreat is designed for women, the seekers, the over-thinkers, over do’ers, those in transition points in life and those feeling the weight of stress. It is perfect for those of you seeking more knowledge and education about nervous system regulation and how somatic practices can have such a positive impact on your life helping you manage everyday issues and become less reactive to everyday life. If you are ready to stop "managing" your symptoms and start listening to your life, this SomaSoul® immersion offers the tools to reopen your window to wellbeing.

Opening your Window to Wellbeing, refers to the physiological capacity to handle stress. This retreat enhances wellbeing by:

  • Regulating the Nervous System: Through SomaSoul® techniques, participants learn to move out of "fight or flight" (anxiety) or "freeze" (numbness) and back into a state of calm alertness.

  • Building Resilience: By identifying physical sensations associated with stress, attendees gain tools to manage daily pressures without becoming overwhelmed.

    Our practices will include:

  • Starting the day with gentle somatic movement from Franklin Method® using those glorious Franklin Balls to relive tension out of the shoulders, neck, torso that hold onto so much tension and stress. Hydrate our fascial system and enjoy living in a body more at ease with itself.

  • Gentle somatic movement from Soma Soul® to restore connection to your own body and relieve tension

  • The motional processing using the Expressive Arts process from Soma Soul® Somatic Therapy in the lineage of early somatic pioneer Anna Halprin (we use drawing and movement to process out of the body tensions, strains and thought patterns - don’t worry no art expereince is needed - this can be a doodle!)

  • Breathwork and grounding practices

  • Sounding practices to increase connection and and vitality with ourselves.

  • Embodied Journalling practices as part of self discovery

  • A small intimate group for the day to be in community with.

  • Somatic therapy wellbeing education around the window of tolerance and how having a wider window and opening to wellbeing can support us in our health and wellbeing.

  • Time for integration as a group and time for you.

A high-quality, afternoon tea at Sarah Pritchard's somatic retreat in Shrewsbury. Featuring cakes, fresh berries, and Emma Bridgewater pottery, a premium, nourishing experience for midlife women seeking nervous system regulation

Nourishment is the cornerstone of resilience. By slowing down to share afternoon tea in a beautiful space, we move from the 'high-alert' of daily life into the 'rest and digest' state required for true somatic healing.

Refreshments and Afternoon tea are provided including gluten free options, a range of teas coffees and organic juices.

Nourishment & Connection: The Shared Experience

In a small circle of only six, the shared table becomes a vital part of the therapeutic process for wellbeing. It is a space for social engagement - a key component of nervous system regulation - where we can ground our morning discoveries over a cup of tea and mindful nourishment.

  • Communal Connection: The intimacy of our group allows for genuine conversation and a sense of belonging that larger retreats cannot offer.

  • Sensory Grounding: We prioritize high-quality, delicious refreshments that delight the senses, helping you stay present and embodied throughout the day.

  • The "Mothering" Effect: You are invited to simply receive; we take care of the details so you can focus entirely on your own internal journey.

The Benefits of working directly with your nervous system and its’ health

For Your Physical Wellbeing: a body at ease

In somatic practice and working with the wellbeing side of SomaSoul® Somatic Therapy, we move beyond the superficial muscles and work directly with the Autonomic Nervous System.

  • Resolution of Chronic Tension: By listening to "instinctive movement" rather than following a rigid exercise routine, you allow your myofascial system to "unwind." This leads to a reduction in chronic pain, especially in the neck, shoulders, and back where we "armor" against stress.

  • Nervous System Regulation: You will learn to move back into your Ventral Vagal state - the physiological zone of feeling good and wellbeing. This lowers heart rate, improves digestion, and boosts immune function by reducing the presence of chronic cortisol.

  • Heightened Interoception: You will sharpen your inner sense. This physical attunement allows you to feel the early signs of fatigue or stress in your daily life before they manifest as illness or injury.

The day includes space for the "intuitive right brain." This includes a session on the expressive arts processes in the lineage of Anna Halprin using art and movement (no art skills required!) to process what’s here in the now.

For Your Emotional Wellbeing: your natural vitality and soul reclaimed.

SomaSoul® teaches us that our emotions are not just "in our heads"- they are lived experiences within the body. Learn in more detail some of the benefits you can have from working with expanding your window to wellbeing on this day.

  • You will gain the emotional resilience to stay grounded even when life feels chaotic. By physically practicing how to return to a state of safety, you build a "buffer" against anxiety and overwhelm.

  • Sometimes words are not enough. Somatic movement allows you to process "stuck" emotions (like grief, anger, or fear) through the body in a way that feels safe, gentle, and manageable.

  • By quieting the "critical mind" and following the body's impulses, you bypass the stories you tell yourself and reconnect with your authentic "Soul" wisdom. Clients often describe this as a feeling of "coming home."

  • Through the integration of expressive arts and stillness, the "felt sense" of your movement transitions into mental clarity. You leave with a clearer understanding of your boundaries, your needs, and your path forward.

A UK First: An Intimate Encounter with SomaSoul®

For the first time in the UK, experience the profound depth of SomaSoul® Somatic Therapy. While this transformative modality has long been a cornerstone of healing at world-renowned centers like Kripalu in the US, I am honoured to bring these teachings to the serene landscape of Newton Meadows, Shrewsbury.

Not a large-scale seminar or a crowded fitness class, but a Small Circle Immersion, strictly limited to just 6 participants.

Please note this is a day for focusing on wellbeing. Whilst there is acknowledgment that the lived experience may be of trauma or challenge this immersive in a group setting is not the place for working directly with trauma. For that 1:1 work is recommended. If you are experiencing difficulty or struggles with mental health please contact your GP as a first step. If you are working with a mental health practitioner you must gain their consent before joining. This is an immersive using tools from somatic therapy to enhance wellbeing for women who want to know about nervous system regulation and tools to use generally.

My Final Invitation: A Unique Space

More than a generic wellness day; it is the first of its kind in the UK. Because this is the only UK SomaSoul® Immersion, and because I am committed to the depth of your experience, this circle will remain strictly limited to six participants. This ensures that the space remains a sanctuary -a place where you are seen, where your nervous system is expertly held, and where your soul has the room to breathe.
